Engineering Integration Project

The goal for this project was to create a device with sufficient mobility to transport food across a table. The device was required to run both manual and autonomous control systems. It also had to involve a subsystem that can differentiate between different colored foods. In order to do so, our group had to Develop a robust program that can run these processes in conjunction and according to specific requests. This project was conducted in order to experiment with robots that could help feed people with diseases that effect mobility such as ALS and paralysis. This device would allow people in this situation to live more independently because it is a completely automated. While most people go day by day taking these activities of daily living for granted, eating is one of the essentials to living and this device could help people out even if it can only preform basic eating tasks.
